4 Mistakes Slowing Down Your Picking Speed | Speed Building Tips & Tricks
$0.00
A lesson on a topic that is of great interest among bluegrass guitarists: playing fast. Much of the ‘wow’ factor of pickers like Billy Strings, is his ability to play very fast and smooth. In this lesson, I discuss four specific aspects that can prevent you from playing fast, and how to improve them. I have encountered these challenges many times myself over the years, and I wanted to make this lesson video to help prevent you from making the same mistakes I did. These four topics are techniques that you can work on to improve your technique so you can work your playing up to higher speeds. We’ll also discuss how to practice these techniques and how to take them to the stage. The four topics we will cover in this lesson are:
1. Fundamentals: Tempo, Timing & Rhythm
2. Equipment, Setup & Ensemble
3. Light Right Hand Technique With Consistent and Even Pressure
4. Subdivisions and Using a Metronome
This lesson is meant to be a basic starting point for thinking about how to build up the speed of your picking. I also included a bonus video of speed building tips and tricks and some additional exercises you can work on to further improve your technique.
You will also get access to all of the other free lessons on the website through the user dashboard.
