“Big Sciota” – Beginner | Traditional Guitar Lesson


The beginner version of the 3-part lesson on the classic old-time tune “Big Sciota”. Also known as “Big Scioty”, this classic tune is considered a bluegrass guitar standard in the old-time revival repertoire and is common among other bluegrass pickers. It is named for the Scioto/Sciota (pronunciations vary) River, which flows through Ohio and empties into the Ohio River. There are countless variations of this tune that have been interpreted and recorded over the years.
