A beginner lesson on alternate picking. Most pickers can play downstrokes but not all can play upstrokes. Integrating these concepts into an upstroke & downstroke pattern is known as alternating picking. In this lesson, I cover alternating picking for the complete beginner with a series of exercises designed to give you an approach to this technique. It is necessary to have a good grasp on alternating picking in order to learn bluegrass style fiddle tunes on guitar.
