Don Reno, the other half of the old-time bluegrass group Reno and Smiley, was a talented multi-instrumentalist known for pioneering the early bluegrass sound. This lick over a D-G chord transition, uses an approach top bluegrass soloing using the G pentatonic blues scale. In this lesson, we’ll learn this lick note-for-note and what gives it a classic bluegrass sound.
