“Under the Double Eagle” | Doc & Merle Watson – Intermediate Guitar Lesson with TAB

$9.00

A lesson on “Under the Double Eagle” in the style of Doc and Merle Watson. This classic tune, steeped in history, is a deep dive into playing lead and rhythm at the same time, which Doc Watson was the master at. This means it lends itself to being played solo or with a group. There are many different versions of this song by other guitarists including Norman Blake and Roy Clark. The Doc and Merle version is the longest of all of the versions I found. It has 4 parts: an intro, a 2-part A section, followed by a B part and a C part to round it out. Coming in at a whopping 34 measures. This 4-part banger is a true classic and in this lesson, we’ll cover the full melodic form, as well as the chords, rhythm and the overall arrangement for “Under the Double Eagle”.
