In this lesson, we look at the classic fiddle tune, “Turkey in the Straw” which uses AA-BB form. Almost everyone is familiar with this melody which makes it easier to connect the melody to the fingerings on the guitar. It’s also a great beginner tune because it makes use of a few basic guitar techniques including slides and ascending and descending lines. In this 3 part video, we’ll break down each note of both the A and B parts of the melody in detail. We also look at the rhythm part so you can learn the chord structure and a few bluegrass runs for moving between chords.
